Why everyone keeps coming back.

Black Sheep Coffee in the heart of Belfast’s Donegall Square East is not just your average coffee shop—it’s an inviting haven for coffee lovers and curious palates alike. This vibrant café effortlessly blends a relaxed, artistic vibe with a menu that brims with creative and rich flavors. Step inside and you’re greeted by bright, quirky artwork and a buzz of friendly energy, creating an atmosphere that feels both cozy and inspiring.

The menu at Black Sheep Coffee truly stands out, catering to those seeking a comforting classic or an adventurous twist. Their toasties offer simple yet satisfying options like the Cheese & Tomato Toastie (£4.79) and the indulgent Chicken & Bacon Toastie (£4.99), each toasted to golden perfection with fresh ingredients that make every bite a delight. For a breakfast treat, the Hash Brown Breakfast Toastie (£5.49) is an irresistible blend of crispy goodness and savory flavors.

What sets Black Sheep apart is its impressive range of matcha beverages. From the creamy, fruity Peaches & Cream Matcha Latte (£4.09) to daring blends such as the Turmeric Matcha Latte (£4.59), these drinks shimmer with freshness and vibrance. The creative Matcha Lemonades—like Passionfruit, Lavender, and Lychee varieties (£3.69 each)—offer refreshing, lightly tangy sips that perfectly complement Belfast’s changing weather.

If you lean towards smoothies and shakes, prepare to be dazzled by options such as the Tropical Fruit Smoothie (£6.29) bursting with sunshine flavors, or a comforting Chocolate Milkshake (£4.99) that feels like a grown-up treat. The variety here means each visit can be a new discovery, whether you want energizing or indulgent.

Customers consistently praise Black Sheep Coffee not only for its quality drinks but also for its warm and attentive service. As Tiana Ward shared, the friendly staff are more than happy to recommend favorites, creating a welcoming experience that invites you to linger. The blend of indoor and outdoor seating caters beautifully to any mood, whether you're looking to relax with a book or catch up with friends in one of Belfast’s most vibrant spots.

Mary Zaw Minn’s enthusiasm for the pistachio coffee—complete with options for cinnamon and chocolate powder toppings—speaks to the café’s thoughtful approach to personalization and flavor experimentation. Likewise, Tristan Bennett’s fondness for their flat white, comparable to those in New Zealand, highlights the exceptional quality of their espresso-based drinks. The simple yet delicious toasties paired with coffees make for satisfying combos, proving that great taste doesn’t need to be complicated.

Black Sheep Coffee’s model of kiosk ordering blends modern convenience with a bustling café culture, appreciated by long-time visitors and newcomers alike. Lisa Stewart’s nod to the fun art and good vibes encapsulates the unique spirit of this spot—a place that celebrates creativity, community, and of course, top-notch coffee.

For anyone in Belfast craving a coffee experience that marries excellent craft beverages with a lively, community-focused atmosphere, Black Sheep Coffee at 1 Donegall Square E is an absolute must-visit. Whether you’re after your morning pick-me-up, a quiet spot to work, or a cheerful place to meet friends, this charming coffee shop delivers on every front with warmth, innovation, and unmistakable flavor.

I visited Black sheep coffee whilst in Belfast the start of august. We first got it delivered via Uber and everything was perfect drinks (matcha latte & iced lattes) and açai bowls, we then came into belfast city to visit the cafe and so glad we did! We discovered Red Bull infusions. Lovely indoor and outdoor seating areas. Staff were so lovely and welcoming and were happy to help with recommendations. Will definitely be visiting again!!

Fairly chill coffee house with a moderately but simple menu. Computer based ordering might throw some customers but it lets you pick your items in detail. Nice artwork.

My friends would hear me talk nonstop about the pistachio coffee. It was my friend time in Belfast trying this place and went there cause my friend suggested I try the famous matcha but I fell in love with the pistachio coffee I came back for another round in the same evening I love how we have an option to add both cinnamon and chocolate powered on top! NOTE: If you’re sitting in, make sure to put to put dine in option when ordering since the dine in version is evidently 50% more yummy than the take away.

An absolutely beautiful coffee shop with very friendly staff. A great busy atmosphere with plenty of seating. The coffee is the best we’ve had and flat white is as good as a flat white in New Zealand . Spicy mango matcha is a new fav of ours and the food, simple but delicious toasties and even better when they’re £5.99 with a coffee!

We came to this cafe during our first visit to Belfast with my partner, and we loved it! The self-order systems are great, the place, the wall art, the atmosphere, the music… everything is amazing! Since we arrived early, we were looking for an open cafe for a while, and we ended up here by chance — and we absolutely loved it! The coffee is also delicious!!!

Very cool spot with great coffee and a quick, easy ordering process. The overall vibe is excellent, with stylish décor that makes it a comfortable place to relax. Prices are fair not too cheap but not overly expensive either. It’s also a great place to sit outside and people-watch, with a convenient location that’s easy to get to. The staff are warm and friendly, which really adds to the experience. Definitely worth a visit!
